Spring has finally arrived in the mountains north of Kyoto though, incredibly, we had sleet recently. Nevertheless, perhaps like many of you my thoughts are slowly turning toward the big spring projects I hope to accomplish before the rainy season and (especially) the hot summer months begin, not to mention the seasonal arrival of all the Asian Killer Hornets, snakes, leeches and other unpleasant critters.

Speaking our website’s Forum, we had a flurry of activity when the website first went live, but that’s since slowed to a crawl. I think once users begin interacting with one another, it’ll generate enough steam on its own to make regular visits there fun and worthwhile, especially from those that don’t use or have access to Facebook.
Though it’s a year away, here at Kominka Japan we’re already mulling over Minka Summit 2026, which will be held here in Hanase, Kyoto, the site of the 2022 and 2024 Summits, April 24-26, 2026!
Despite the behind-the-scenes upheavals of last autumn, everything is still on-track for next year’s event, with a great line-up of presenters, workshops, Minka Tours, a bustling Minka Mall, and our popular Saturday Night Dinner & Keynote Speech. Beyond returning popular speakers and vendors, we’re cooking up some new ideas and directions to further enhance that Summit weekend, trying new things while bringing back old favorites and Summit traditions. Expect announcements and advance ticket sales later this year.

We’ve also managed to restore the Hanase entry to the My Village Program which, unfortunately, got zapped by others during that unfortunate upheaval. We’ve also greatly expanded our Resources to include more books, more links, and more websites. Give it a looksee when you have a chance, and let us know how else we can enhance it!
